Products requiring tracking and display of date of production and date of expiry.
Some of our products (medical products) have expiry date. By law in KSA, we are required to display production date and expiry date everywhere, including in our invoices and delivery notes. I wanted to know if this can be managed with Tuhund. What do we need to do to manage this. Is there any additional work required. Please note we need batch, production date and expiry date in all items that have expiry date in our PDF invoices. Thanks in advance.
Thank you for your query. Yes, Tuhund seamlessly manages perishable products, making it ideal for use in industries like healthcare. In fact, Tuhund HealthCare is already widely used in hospitals and pharmacies, where most products, such as medicines, are perishable.
To manage perishable products in Tuhund, you simply need to enable the “Product Lifespan” option at the category level. If your products are organized into various categories and sub-categories, you can enable this option for all categories or sub-categories containing perishable items.
Here’s how you can do it:
- Navigate to Inventory > Manage > Product Categories in Tuhund.
- You don’t need to go into each category individually. From the list page, you can search, sort, and filter categories. On the left side of each row, there’s an edit button.
- Click the edit button, and in the popup, check the "Enable Product Lifespan" option.
If your products aren’t categorized correctly, you can move them in bulk from one category to another directly from the product list screen. In the categories screen, you also have options to move and rearrange categories and multi-level sub-categories.
Once the “Product Lifespan” option is enabled, two date fields —Manufacture Date and Expiry Date— will appear for those products wherever relevant. Additionally, two more columns will show up in all related reports. You’ll also see new reports under the Inventory section that focus on these dates.
To include the production and expiry dates in your PDF templates, use the placeholders #PRODUCTIONDATE# and #EXPIRYDATE# in the table item description section. Alternatively, you can use #PRODUCTIONDATE_WL# and #EXPIRYDATE_WL#, which remove the blank line if the value is null.
If you need further assistance, please raise a support ticket, and we’ll be happy to help.
Thankfully all such products are in separate categories. Got it. Thanks.
