I wanted to know if we start a new company in Tanzania, will our same deployment that we are using for Uganda also work in Tanzania? If possible also give me the details of Tanzania tax structure and if Tuhund is compliant.
If your Tanzania branch will operate as a subsidiary of your Uganda company, then the same Tuhund deployment can also work for Tanzania. In this setup, the Tanzania branch will appear as a separate entity or branch in the system, depending on how it is configured. Branch access is strictly controlled in Tuhund; users without access to a specific branch or entity will not see it anywhere in the system.
However, if the Tanzania branch operates as an independent principal financial entity, we recommend requesting a separate deployment. Tuhund's cluster deployment system allows multiple deployments to integrate seamlessly based on your specific integration requirements. Data exchange in this setup is highly secure, utilizing Tuhund’s proprietary protocol, T-Link.
There are two primary limitations to having a single deployment: time zone and principal currency. Both are fixed for a single deployment. Since there is no time difference between Tanzania and Uganda, the time zone limitation does not apply in your case. The principal currency, however, determines the currency in which financial statements are presented. In Tuhund, transactions can be conducted in any currency, with automated conversion, forex difference calculations, and exchange rate updates. Nonetheless, values related to forex are calculated and stored relative to the principal currency. While the impact of this limitation may appear minor, it is not entirely negligible.
In your scenario, a clustered deployment between Uganda and Tanzania resolves this issue. For the same transaction amount, the Ugandan deployment will record transactions in foreign currencies in both the original currency and Ugandan Shillings, using Uganda’s exchange rates. Similarly, the Tanzanian deployment will record transactions in foreign currencies in both the original currency and Tanzanian Shillings, using Tanzania’s exchange rates.
Regarding VFD (Virtual Fiscal Device), you do not need to worry. VFD generation will function the same way in both cases.
Since I am already aware of the situation here and I know your Tanzanian business will soon outgrow your Ugandan business, your best option is to have a separate deployment.
